Kawashima gave a student seminar in the School of Urban and Environmental Engineering at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) in Ulsan, South Korea on September 26, 2016. The visit was hosted by Professor Jae Hong Kim.
Kawashima visited and gave a talk to the Structure Research Department at the headquarters of Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Ulsan, South Korea. The talk was held on September 26, 2016 and was on the topic of oil well cementing.
Kawashima participated as a technical session speaker at Korea Electric Power Research Institute’s (KEPRI’s) International Workshop on Structural Life Management of Eco-Power Structures, held on September 22, 2016.
Kawashima gave a talk entitled, “Characterizing thixotropy of fresh cement-based systems modified with clays,” at the University of Texas at Austin’s Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering Department on Sept 9, 2016.
Two manuscripts have been accepted for publication by Cement and Concrete Research. They are entitled, “Flow onset of fresh mortars in rheometers: contribution of paste deflocculation and sand particle migration” and “Use of creep recovery protocol to measure static yield stress and structural rebuilding of fresh cement pastes,” both with Ye Qian as first author. Congrats Ye!
Ye Qian has successfully defended his PhD Proposal, entitled “Characterization of structural rebuilding and shear migration in fresh cementitious materials.” Congrats and keep up the good work, Ye!
Kawashima presented two projects at the ACI Spring 2016 Convention, held in Milwaukee, WI.
One talk was entitled, “Phase Evolution of Oil Well Cements with Nanoadditive at Elevated Temperatures and Pressure.” This was part of the “Nanoscale Fiber-Reinforced Concrete” session sponsored by ACI Committees 236, 241, 523, and 544.
The other talk was entitled, “Use of Thixotropy Model to Capture Competition between Paste Deflocculation and Sand Particle Migration in Fresh Mortars.” This was part of the “Thixotropy of Concrete – How It Can Help” session sponsored by ACI Committees 237 and 238.
Kawashima gave a talk entitled, “Characterizing thixotropy of fresh cement-based systems modified with clays,” in Georgia Tech’s Civil & Environmental Engineering Department on April 8, 2016.
